We provide sedation services such as Oral Sedation and Nitrous Oxide to help you overcome your fears. We will do a thorough assessment to determine if one of these sedation options would work for you.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide is more commonly known as laughing gas. It can be used alone or in combination with an oral sedative. It is inhaled throughout the appointment and provides patients with the ability to relax and unwind while receiving dental care.

Nitrous oxide is a clear, odourless gas that when mixed with oxygen leaves the patients with a warm, floating, almost euphoric sensation.

Your dentist will customize the percentage of nitrous oxide for your individual needs to ensure that your dental appointment is as comfortable as possible.

It has no lasting effects, and if used without oral sedation, patients are able to drive after their appointment. Nitrous oxide is considered very safe and is even recommended for use in young children.

Is oral sedation right for me?

There are many different types of medications used to manage dental anxiety. Our experienced team will thoroughly review your complete medical history in order to determine if you are a good candidate for oral sedation.

Once we confirm that oral sedation is right for you, we will recommend the best option. Depending on the type of oral sedation we suggest, you may be required to take the medication the night before your procedure in order to get a good night's sleep and then take a second dose in the morning before you arrive at your appointment.

When is dental oral sedation used?

We often recommend oral sedation to patients who are very nervous or anxious during dental appointments. It is a very effective solution for both short and long appointments and is suitable for most types of procedures.

Can I drive myself home after the procedure?

No, it is not recommended to drive following an appointment under oral sedation. Please arrange for someone to drive you to your appointment, and home as well, as the medication could make you very drowsy.
